The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

A Lesson From The Kursk

Once again I find myself sitting here. typing yet another very difficult post, once again with a liquid coming out of my eyes...called tears.

Most know by now about the Russian Sub that went down a week ago with 118 men on board. Most of these men were 18-24 years old. They were boys when you get to be my age.

I had posted for prayer for these men...that the Master of the Sea would calm the sea so they could be rescued. I had one answer in a few clubs say it was wrong to do that since it may be God's judgment on their sin. I responded that the greatest intercessory prayer in the Bible apart from our Lord Jesus Christ was by Abraham in Genesis 18:23-33 where Abraham interceding not for Lot but for the very wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. It was FOR the cities...(the people in them really) Intercession is not is work since we place ourselves between the one we
intercede for and GOD.

The only regret I have is that I did not post it as soon as I heard the sub was
down. YES there is a great chance that each of these 118 men are in HELL now and that does not please me one iota...In fact if there was a way I could have been placed on that sub to show those men the Lord I would not have hesitated to do so.

For sometime now I have felt I would rather stand a foot from the gates of hell to turn people away just before they entered then to preach in the largest cathedral.

What then is the lesson we can learn from the Kursk? As reports come in, we are seeing something happened suddenly that changed the course for these 118 men. Most did not have a moment to think about anything...they did not know what hit them. On the other side of this...many also had hours, or even days.

Do this... close your eyes tightly...imagine yourself now in this sub. Water seeping in, you have recently closed water tight doors with friends of yours still alive on the other side, knowing they will drown soon. but you had to close the doors to have any chance of saving the sub and most of the crew. Now the lights are flicker...power is lost and as the moments turn to hours the horror of the situation sinks in. Now the power is gone and it is black. You can do nothing....not even talk or move around in the now cold room that surrounds you. You wonder now if anyone knows you are there...even if anyone cares....the hours have now turned into days.. still no one...

Have you ever sat in a dark room with NO light whatsoever.... what if it were not by choice? Research has shown that when this happens, most people panic after but a few moments. think of spending a cold wet dark room.

As tears freely flow, as my heart is seemingly torn in two, I think as horrible as this is...and it is no wonder SIN is referred to as darkness... as HORRIBLE as these thoughts are to have been there or have a loved one there this is NOTHING compared to HELL.
I have a deep burden to see people come to the Lord for salvation...especially more men...yet there was little anyone could do for these 118 men on the Kursk.

The lesson from the Kursk? NONE of us are promised a tomorrow. None of us are even promised the next moment. We are all ONE heart beat away from meeting our maker.

The lesson from the Kursk? This event could happen to any one of us without suddenly that we do NOT have time to call repent at the last moment...if we have not already done so.

If these men had not repented, they were going about their jobs and in the very next instant, they woke up in HELL.

2 Corinthians 6
1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

What is the lesson from the Kursk? There is one for God's people too you know. LOOK at that co-worker, that neighbor, that sales clerk we see all the time... LOOK at then closely... the one we keep saying "I have to tell them about the Lord..." They may NOT be here tomorrow! They could well be in HELL tomorrow... they could well have their own Kursk!

People I am speaking to ME as much as YOU. I need this lesson from the Kursk as much as you do. I get lazy and count on telling people later also. They may NOT have as much later as we think they do. One reason this message is so hard to write is that I am thinking about the real fate of this crew. I am also thinking about many I did not tell. WE NEED to WAKE UP!

Some of you may have been putting off trusting Christ for a better day... some may have put it off thinking there is lots of time left and I want to enjoy life first. So what is the lesson from the Krusk for YOU? There may not be a tomorrow. YOU could well have your Kursk today. If this applies to you PLEASE PLEASE trust Christ TODAY. If I could and if it would help I would literally get down on my hands and knees to BEG YOU to do so.

I am not saying these things to get praise...or to have people think about how sensitive I am...I could care less anymore about what people think of ME.. I want them to see JESUS...HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS.

Christ has told us we would suffer for HIM. I am now wondering if some of this suffering is having the mind of Christ so we can feel HIS pain when events like the Kursk occurs. Several months ago, this would not have bothered me. It bothers me big time now....

Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way
and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

IF God takes NO PLEASURE in this should WE? How often are we glad when someone is executed...we say they got what they deserved... God is NOT pleased with this...if they did not trust in HIM before their death...should we?

What is the lesson from the Kursk... if you are His Child...TELL OTHERS about HIM.... They may well have their own Kursk sooner then we think.....

DADDY PLEASE PLEASE lead us to those that are about to have their KURSK... help us to show them YOUR love that YOU CARE....and that YOU can give them a reason to live if their Kursk could possibly be by their own hand... That you can give them eternal life if not by choice....
