The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

Why LORD?  Why?

Why Lord...

Have you ever asked this question? I sure know I have.

Why don't you hear my prayer? Is there something wrong with me?

Why did you let that happen to me?

Why don't you save my husband son or daughter?

Why did you allow....why why why???

On top of this, when we dare verbalize these questions, when we dare
ask them out loud, some well meaning Christians will seem to condemn
us for asking them, even those that want to ask these questions
themselves but are afraid to "question God"

My friend, God does not mind it when we ask legitimate questions,
questions to help us understand. He does mind those questions that
are more of a challenge then a why did you let that
happen to ME! (this could be more of a dare like we are too good to
have had it happen to us) Legitimate questions draw us closer to

Most of these questions are answered when we keep in mind some of the
attributes of God.

1: GOD LOVES US UNCONDITIONALLY that means and YOU so much.
He knew us before we were even a glimmer in our parent's eyes. He
even knew us if we were a "accident" or if we were unwanted, perhaps
a "product of a crime" My precious friend....however you happened to
come to be in this world, YOU are NOT AN ACCIDENT. God loves you
soooo much. You may have been used and abused by those that should
have loved and protected you. You may have been told you were no good
to anyone...but I want to reassure you...whatever scars you wear,
whatever the heart ache you bear, the nailed scared hands can mend
it. Jesus Christ IS the Balm of Gilead and this balm can heal any
wound. There is nothing you can do to get God to love you more..

Whatever your past, Jesus Christ felt you were worthy enough that HE
would have given HIS life for YOU..
.even if you would be the only one
to accept this gift. (If you have not accepted this given or if you
do not know without a doubt that you have eternal life, read this now:

Bear in mind that according to John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but
for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might
have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

If you have done this, this applies to YOU!

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an
expected end. This is so powerful. It tells us that God will
conform us to the image of Christ. The question is, will we allow
HIM to do it the easy way, or the hard way. IF we have accepted
Christ and we resist this "transformation", we will be chastened and
this is not pleasant. The results are well worth it however.

2: GOD IS AS FAITHFUL to and me as HE was to anyone in the

In Hebrews 11 we see things such as "By faith Moses, By
faith Abel, by Faith Enoch. Oh we love these first 35 verses.
Remember the next several verses are still very much a part of faith others endured mocking, scourging, bonds and
imprisonments. At this very moment, someone is putting their very
life on the line to tell someone about Jesus Christ. Some may even
lose it. Still, it is by faith in our LORD that they are able to do

Although many tell us we should expect that as Christians
everything we do should prosper, this simply is not true. Christ
told us that we should expect to suffer for HIS name and although
Moses was used to lead a nation out of bondage by faith, it was also
by faith he chose to suffer the afflictions with the people of
God ...for a season.

3: GOD WILL NOT HARM US. Oh many of the things God allows will
hurt...and often hurt like crazy. How can this be? Well think of
doctors for example. There are times when someone may be brought
into a trauma center when due to the nature of what is happening,
literal major surgery may be done without having time to "put them to
sleep" Their chest may well be cut open and ribs spread apart while
they are awake in order to save their life. Think how this must
hurt, but what would the result be if the doctors did not want
to "hurt" the person?

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to his

We have seen this happen in the Word of God when a Godly man was sold
into slavery and then sent to prison for a rape he did not do.
(Genesis 39) God used this man...Joseph to save a nation.

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the
rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

John 19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against
me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered
me unto thee hath the greater sin.

The leadership of Shattered Men have literally encountered demons.
This has been both in instant messages and on the phone. All of the
leadership has been threatened, and cursed but we believe Romans
8:38,39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor
things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall
be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord.

I have literal had a demon tell me on the phone that it was going to
tell my wife I was having an affair. I took the phone to her and
said..."honey, someone wants to talk to you" This demon could not
say a word. Just as God stopped the mouths of lions for Daniel, HE
can stop demon's mouths too. (remember God is as faithful to us as
HE was to Daniel)

Your greatest adversary may not be a demon directly. It may be an
abusive relationship. Remember, we do not battle flesh and blood but
according to Ephesians 6:12 we fight against demonic forces.

Is your battle with disease? Cancer" Heart disease? Diabetes or
any of hundreds of others? Again, God is greater then this but often
it is not his will to heal us of these things. Oh, we will have some
tell us it is. There are many "counselors" that are in the same
school as those that counseled Job. They are wrong.

Why God....why? In order to answer this fully, we need to know our
position in God. For those who have trusted Jesus Christ for
salvation, we know that God promised never to leave us or forsake
us. He gives more grace as the burden grows greater and HE gives us
HIS strength when we need it. Each trial, each temptation, each
tribulation comes our way for a reason. The most important reason is
for us to learn to trust HIM more. However the same test that can
strengthen us can also weaken us depending on our resolve. We can
give up or we can determine much as the three Hebrew children that
even if HE slay us...yet will we serve Him. Remember, these kids
were thrown in a furnace that killed those who threw them in yet they
came out without even the smell of smoke. Much as our bodies gain
strength by using our muscles, our spirit gains strength by
exercising it.

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are
not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in

2 Corinthians 1:
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy
our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the
saints which are in all Achaia:
2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord
Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to
comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we
ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation
also aboundeth by Christ.
6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and
salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings
which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your
consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are
partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

If we look at verse 4 again, we will see the reason we have these
sufferings "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may
be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort
wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."

It is not so much what happens to a child of God that helps others to
see Christ in us, but how we respond to what happens to us.

To conclude, do you see other Christians suffering around you? Do
you share their burden without condemnation? Often we add to their
suffering by telling them what they did wrong..
.that they have to be
doing something to cause it. Folks, this may or may not be true but
let's not add to their burden as Job's counselors did his.

For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no
greater burden than these necessary things; Acts 15:28

MY precious LORD, we come to YOU on behave of anyone reading this
that may be in despair from suffering. Often they may feel even YOU
have forgotten them but we pray that they may feel the warmth of Your
embrace as they read this. We pray that they will be able to plunge
in the river of Your grace. We do not pray that this suffering be
ended, for we know that YOU have told us that YOU use it to help us
conform to Your image somehow. You may be using it to bring some to
You for salvation that would never come otherwise. We also know that
YOU suffered for us. No LORD, we do not ask that this be lifted but
we do ask that YOUR grace be poured out without measure to them so
they can feel Your embrace, so they can go one more day walking in
YOUR will. My LORD, be so real to each person reading this right

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.

His love has no limit, His grace has no measure;
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.

(this was written by the person that wrote this song)

Annie Johnson Flint. From a very young age, she suffered from
rheumatoid arthritis that left her crippled and unable to rise from
bed. To alleviate the pain and discomfort, she rested and slept on
soft pillows. Her body developed serious bed sores and finally she
suffered the ravages of cancer. Yet her attitude through all the
struggles with pain and confinement was that of submission, faith and
trust in God to give her the grace and the strength she needed. With
a pen pushed through bent and gnarled fingers and held by swollen
joints she wrote her verses which provided solace and comfort for
herself, her friends, and the world. One such poem was "He Giveth
More Grace":

One last thing...sometimes if someone is suffering, the best thing we
can do is to help them cry.
