The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

TIP: A small sum of money given to someone for performing a service; a gratuity.

Before you ignore this message, please read to the end. I want to show you who is the best "tipper" in the world....and why!

Most of us have gone to restaurants and most of us have left a tip for good service. Few however know that the waiters and waitresses pay income tax based upon them getting a certain amount of tips based upon the total of the bills of their tables. Of course, tipping is not expected in fast food restaurants or places you have to serve yourself. If you are given service, tipping is part of the wait staff's expected earnings.

There are stories of really big tips.  I have read of  a brand new car being left as a tip.  There is also a movie about a New York City police officer that told his waitress that since he did not have a tip, he would give her half of the winnings of a lottery ticket.  He kept his promise when it won over a million dollars.

There are several factors involved in how much of a tip should or is left.

1: How good was the food (if in a restaurant) If the food is cooked to your order, and if it is served at the proper temperature, taste good, looks appetizing and served promptly, this should be taken into consideration.

2: How was the service? If your waiter/waitress treats you like you are the only person there take that into consideration. Other things include refilling your beverage, checking every once in a while to see if you need anything else, or asking shortly after your food is brought to you if it is ok.

Now if  s/he acted like it was a burden for them to wait on you, such as going to your table only after you were sitting there for sometime, and then saying "Yea wana ya want? " and then you see the food sitting on the counter while they sit reading a paper and then bring your food and throw the plate on the table  and then bringing the bill and never checking on you, I doubt if many people would leave any tip, let alone a good one.

Still my friend,. we need to remember that although someone acting like that above should probably have stayed home that day, people in the service industry can have a "bad day" too. Perhaps a loved one is in a hospital and they have to work to pay the bills.  Lets try to show mercy and  try to see if there is a need that we might be able to help least by praying for them.

3: Are you cheap? There are some people that will never leave a tip no matter how good the food or service is. For these people, some education may be in order to help them understand that this is the means these people have to feed their families and to provide for their needs. It is important to keep in mind that the Lord tells us a workman is worthy of his reward. (1 Timothy 5:18)

Matthew 25: 14-30 tells us of three men who were given money to invest for their master.  Two of them invested it and brought back more money. One hide it and returned only what was given.  This shows us that God wants us  to use the talents we have to give even more in return. HE wants us to....WAIT upon Him.

There are many people that go into the service industry because they love people.  They love seeing them smile when they are waited upon.  My friend....EVERY Christian IS in the service industry!  Let me show you how.

Isaiah 40
31   But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Now many think this means we sit on the sidelines twiddling our thumbs until God decides He wants us to do something.  It is not what  this means. A waiter does not sit and wait.  He or she is busy working, serving and meeting needs.  If we simply were waiting around, we would not need to renew our strength. We would not need to worry about  becoming weary. It is only because we are busy doing things when we wait upon the LORD that we would need our strength renewed. We need to be busy serving also. Since God is self sufficient and does not "need" anything, how do we wait on HIM?

Matthew 25:

34   Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35   For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36   Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37   Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38   When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39   Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40   And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

We serve God by serving others!  We serve Him by feeding the poor.  We serve Him with prison ministries, working with those that  have been abused and helping them find healing in Jesus Christ.  We serve the LORD by reaching out to children, to those that are homeless.  We server God in hospitals and nursing homes when we visit those whom most others have forgotten and let each know that THEY are worthwhile.

James 2
14   What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15   If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16   And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Just as we will often tip a waiter more if the service is  good and if they make us feel we are important to them, the greatest tipper in the world will do the same.  We can not serve Him by doing the above things out of the feelings of "I HAVE to do this".....but to serve HIM out of LOVE for Jesus and for those whom HE loves.  Jesus said He was not willing for ANY to perish.  HE loves each and every one of us so much.

How do we know that God is the best tipper ever?

Isaiah 64
4   For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

James 1
17   Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

This shows us that God will give a "tip" to those that wait upon Him.  Again we wait upon Him by serving Him just as a waiter serves us.  God has chosen to use people....YOU and me to show HIS love to each human being.  Those that served God by telling me about Jesus helped me to see that Jesus really does love ME!  We in turn can show others that GOD loves them by waiting upon the LORD.

If you are not a Christian, that is if you are not 100% sure you have eternal life, there is a job opening for YOU in God's eternal plan.  No one will be turned away.  There are no drug testing and no record checks.  You see, God "hires" us just as we are.  HE will then make us a new person and will give us all of the qualifications we need to wait upon HIM.  Check this link out to find out how to "apply"  (remember ALL applications are accepted)

How to have eternal life

To those that have been sitting around waiting for something to happen, thinking you had to sit around and wait upon the LORD...customers are flocking in,  They need service.  They are hungry, cold, forgotten and rejected.  They need YOU to wait upon the LORD and show them that JESUS is the answer.

Don't Tell Them Jesus Loves Them

"Oh, the suffering soul
Cryin' out for love in a world that seldom cares.
See the hungry heart
Longing to be filled, much more than our breads.

And a young girl sells herself on Seventh Avenue.
And you hear her cryin' out for help,
my God, What will we do?

Don't tell them Jesus loves them
Till your ready to love them too
Till your heart breaks from the sorrow
And the pain they're going through.
With a life full of compassion
May we do what we must do.
But don't tell them Jesus loves them,
Till your ready, to love them too.

Oh the desperate man.
How we're reachin' for the souls
That are sinking down in sand.
Oh, cry for the child
We've lost our passion for the lost,
When there are billions left to win.
And another 40 thousand children starve to death today.
Would we risk all we had, to see what others see?

Don't tell them Jesus loves them
Till your ready to love them too
Till your heart breaks from the sorrow
And the pain they're going through.
With a life full of compassion
May we do what we must do.
But don't tell them Jesus loves them,
Till your ready, to love them too.

Why have we waited so long?
Time to show them Jesus lives.
To share salvation's song.
Why have our hearts become so proud
Of that we fail to see.
To love them, is to love God.

And the young girl sells herself on Seventh Avenue.
Hear her cryin' out for help,
What will we do?

Don't tell them Jesus loves them
Till your ready to love them too
Till our hearts break from the sorrow
And the pain they're going through.
With a life full of compassion
May we do what we must do.
But don't tell them Jesus loves them,
Till your ready, to love them too."

My LORD,  HELP us.  Help us to really learn to love as YOU loved us.  Help us to love those that are hurting. To really intercede for them and to put ourselves in their place. and to love them as You do.  Help us to be willing to get down and get dirty if we need to.  To love the unlovable.  To get  out of our comfort zones and to begin to wait upon YOU as we have never done before.  Oh my us to really get a vision for what it will be like to be a sinner in the hands of an angry God because they have rejected Jesus Christ, Your SON!

LORD, Paul said the terror of the LORD caused him to persuade men. I think that terror was knowing what happens to those who do not trust Jesus.  Help us to do that too.

My LORD, help our hearts to break from the sorrow so many around us are in.  Then help us to be a doer of Your Word and show them...JESUS!
