It is the year 2001 and Noah lives in Ontario, Canada. One day the Lord speaks to Noah and says "In one year from now I am going to cleanse evil and darkness from the earth by making it rain and cover the whole earth with water until all is destroyed. But I want you to save the righteous children and families of Canada and two of every kind of living thing on the earth. Therefore, I am commanding you to build an Ark".

With a flash of lightning, God delivered the specifications for an Ark etched in stone tablets. Fearful and trembling, Noah took the plans and agreed to build the Ark. "Remember," said the Lord, "You must complete the Ark and bring everyone aboard in one year."

Exactly one year later, a fierce storm cloud covered the earth and all the seas of the earth went into a tumult. The Lord saw Noah sitting in his front yard weeping.

"Noah." He shouted, "Where is the Ark I commanded you to build?"

"Lord please forgive me!" cried Noah. "I did my best, but there were big problems.

During the early stages of construction of the Ark, my wife got upset because of the time I spent working on the Ark. She began to have a relationship with a lesbian lover without my knowledge. With no fault divorce that the government has decreed is law in our country, she decided she wanted a divorce and to get me out of the house and out of the lives of our children. She felt that two women raising our children, with one pretending to be a dad figure, was better than your blueprint of having a real mother and father.

Although I have always taken care of my wife and children as you have ordered in the holy bible, she simply made false allegations that I had abused her. When police came told them she felt afraid because I had yelled at her and made her feel threatened. The police immediately handcuffed me and threw me in jail. I had to sit in jail for 6 months before my hearing even came up.

But Lord, please forgive me for I had to sin. Just before my hearing, the police told me that if I did not plead guilty to my wife’s false allegations that I would be spending another six months in jail and would not see my children for a very long time, so in order to get out and to continue work on the Ark I had to lie and confess to crimes for which I had been falsely accused by my wife. After I got out of jail, I worked even harder and hired extra carpenters to complete the task. I thought I had lots of time to work on the Ark because after I pleaded guilty, the family court issued a restraining Order against me in which I was prevented from having any contact with my former wife and the children contrary to what the police and the lawyers had led me to believe would be the case if I was to plead guilty.

As I began to work even harder to complete the Ark, then the local women’s shelter slapped an injunction on the Ark claiming that only females, lesbians and gays should be allowed on the Ark as they are oppressed groups who are being abused and only they should be allowed to escape the floods. This held up construction even further Lord. The women’s shelter representatives also told me that only they had the money to complete the project as they receive millions in government grants while I was relying on my faith in you Lord and others in the community to fund the project.

But Lord, eventually, I managed to get the injunction dropped temporarily.

Just after I got working again on the Ark, the Family Responsibility Office put a garnishee on my wages and seized all the money I had saved to help finance the Ark. I was left with no money in which to pay for materials for the Ark. With the garnishee registered against me, I could not get credit any longer. Even though it was later found that the FRO had made a mistake, the FRO said it did not matter to them.

But Lord, even though I was left penniless and had to live in the hold of the Ark to have a place for myself to live, I managed to find other good people who helped to finance the completion of the project.

The final blow came Lord just when I was finishing the Ark. Just as I was completing it, my wife and her lawyer went to court to obtain an exparte court Order, claiming that I was concealing my assets because I had built the Ark in your name and not my own. My wife and her lawyer claimed that the Ark was proof that I was hiding money had extra money hidden away somewhere. The police came again with FRO collection agents and ordered me to vacate the Ark immediately. I was told that the family court had ordered the Ark be seized and turned over to my wife and her lawyer.

When they took me to court again, the judges were not very happy with me. They didn't take very kindly to the idea that I was following your word and that they had no jurisdiction over the conduct of the Creator of the Universe nor did they like me working for you for such meagre wages. They claimed that spousal support payments and child support payments should come first, even before the wishes of the Lord to be a loving parent and that I should be out working and earning as much money as possible so that I could pay more spousal and child support to my former wife. And another thing, Lord, during this family court hearing, they took away my licence to drive the Ark and under Ontario’s new Bill 117, they seized the Ark and permanently gave it to my wife. She and a group of lesbian women from the women’s shelter have turned it into another “shelter” where only women who want to break up their marriages with their husbands are allowed to enter.

Revenue Canada then stepped in and seized anything else I had, claiming that my wife had told them that the purpose of me building the Ark was to flee the country to avoid paying taxes and support. They also claimed that because I had time to tinker building a boat that I must make lots of money under the table that they did not know about. Revenue Canada and the court believed everything that my wife said to them and ignored everything I said to defend myself and to defend the truth about why I was building the Ark.

As bad as things were at that point Lord, I still was not going to give up. I went to the government and explained how important building the Ark was for the future of our children and families in our country. I was hopeful that the government would do something to help children and families that the Ark was built to save. Members of Parliament in my area said that they could not intervene when matters are before the court and to speak to the Minister of Justice.

Unfortunately, in response to my efforts to lobby the government, the Justice Minister, Anne McLellan issued a new law banning any further building of any Arks or similar such structures in Canada until further analysis of the need of such structures could be assessed. Furthermore, Anne McLellan stated that she had to complete consultations with the provinces and territories before she could support any initiative to help children and families, such as building the Ark. She said that this may take staff in her Ministry years before they could come to any kind of conclusion. I learned that Ms. McLellan has no children and lives common-law with another man contrary to the rules you have laid out for good people on earth to follow. I was also told that Ms. McLellan is an ardent feminist and believes that men have no standing in the lives of children or families.

“Up to the very end I tried Lord. I don’t think I can finish the Ark for another 7 or 8 years with all the family court matters to deal with!” Noah wailed. “My wife and the court system have kept me from seeing my children for many months now and I miss them so dearly. It is so hard to even focus on things with so many burdens on me.”

Suddenly, the sky began to clear, the sun began to shine and the seas began to calm. A rainbow arched across the sky. Noah looked up hopefully. "You mean you are not going to destroy the earth, Lord?"

“No,” said the Lord sadly. I don’t need to waste my energy. “It seems that Anne McLellan, together with the government and your biased family courts already have done this.”

Note: Although this is satire there is much truth in this message. It really happens!
