The hidden half of domestic violence
Planned Sin
Hebrews
12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and
let us run with patience the race that is set before us
I think each of us has at least one sin we have struggled with throughout our Christian life. For some reason, we battle with it time after time. I believe one reason for this is to help us to keep our eyes on the LORD to be able to overcome this sin.
Sometimes however, we make it easier to fall to the temptation this sin may cause because we make it convenient to do it. Instead of this, we should be making it hard to do so.
"But put ye on the
Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts
thereof." Romans 13:14
Often when we have a problem in certain areas that we find we keep doing over
and over and do not seem to get victory over, it is because we make a provisions
to do it.
Smoking and trying to stop? Do you keep a pack around "just in case"
Problems with inappropriate web sites? Are they still book marked? Did you delete
them even from the cookies?
I once worked with a woman that was often suicidal although she was a Christian,
She told me she kept a gun at home "just in case" When I showed her
this verse, she realized she WAS making provisions for the flesh.
We need to purge our homes and our hearts of anything that will help us sin.
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the
pleasures of sin for a season; Hebrews 11:25
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
1 Cor. 10:31
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Romans 8:37
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1,2
Regardless of the temptation, we do not have to fall to it:
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
There is good news, if we do sin, we can be forgiven:
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Please remember, that GOD knows if we are sorry for this sin. We can not keep planning on committing sin because we know GOD will forgive us. If we do keep doing so we will face Gods Awesome promise of Chastisement.
