The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

Onward Christian soldiers

We have often heard Christians referred to as being in battle.  We have often been called an army.  Many sermons we here are  based upon this very thing.  Ephesians chapter six tells us to have the full armor of God on.  This of course is another military term.  Much has been discussed about these things.  I want to discuss another aspect of the Lord's Army...the MOS or "military occupation specialties".

Christ, the royal master
leads against the foe
forward into battle
see his banners go

Needless to say, Jesus Christ is the commander in chief.  He is the Lord of Host and we should only follow HIS orders. We will get into more detail on this soon.

Like a mighty army
moves the church of god
brothers, we are treading
where the saints have trod
we are not divided
all one body we
one in hope, in doctrine
one in charity

Oh how it would be so good to really say, "we are not divided" but so often, we are. Good Bible believing churches appear to fight against each other more then they do against satan.  Our internet groups often appear to be at odds against each other and many will not allow any other group to be promoted no matter how much they serve the Lord. Yes, we do have to be accountable to make sure we do not allow links that do not promote Biblical standards,  This is understood, but why not allow those that are promoting these standards?   Would we have won WWII  if our military was always fighting each other?

onward then, ye people
join our happy throng
blend with ours your voices
in the triumph song
glory, laud and honor
unto Christ, the king
this through countless ages
men and angels

I have served in the military. I have seen those that were "gun ho" and were very happy in the military.  They would not want to do anything else.  I have seen others that were miserable.  You see, they did not chose to be there.  Their "friends and neighbors" choose for them.  Some of these would do almost anything to get out of the military.  They were not happy campers.

Now we come to Christians soldiers.  Look around you.  Do those you know are Christians look happy?  Look in a mirror.  Do you look happy?    Remember now, no one is drafted into the Lord's Army.  We all have to enlist.  The enlistment is not for a year or two, It is for the duration.   Yet, we need to remember, that had we not enlisted in the Lord's Army, we would still be in this war but we would be on the losing side.  You see, the battle plans have been drawn throughout the ages and they are all going according to the plan of the LORD OF HOSTS.

Often when we think of an army, we think mostly of the infantry, artillery or amour.   We think of the foot solider, cannons or tanks.  Yet, these are but three of the over 200 MOS's or job functions in the U.S. Army alone.  There are others in the other branches of service..

Oh if we think about it, I am sure most of us can come up with more of these occupations.  We could think of cooks, medics, engineers, mechanics, supply and many other jobs that keep the army going..   The troops on the front line often get all the credit, the medals, but they could not function without those in the background. We could list most of these 200 plus jobs but that is not the purpose of this message.

I want to point out some of the "military occupation specialties" of the LORD's army.

Of course we know of  the pastors, missionaries and evangelist.   We know how vital they are to the "army"   But just as the military has far more soldiers that we do not see then those on the front line, the Lord also has many soldiers we can not see.  I contend that often these soldiers are more vital then those on the front lines.

Some of the most important soldiers are the very precious unseen prayer warriors. They are often unable to even leave their homes. and sometimes not able to leave their beds, but oh how we need them.  Many do this for years without any one telling them "good job"  but I know the Lord of Host will give the recognition that is due them when they have that ultimate promotion.

The internet has made it possible for some of these previous unseen soldiers to take part in the actual battle.  Most do a very good job because they are often able to show love to the unlovable much more then most can.

There are other jobs to be done.  Often we see people posting about a burden such as child evangelism and maybe we have posted about a ministry dear to our heart and we wonder why everyone does not jump on the bandwagon and support us 100%.  Well my friends, remember we can not fight all the battles ourselves.   Nor can anyone else.  I have long seen that God is the one that assigns the MOS to us.  HE has made sure no one is ignored.

Some are called to minister to those in the gutter.  They often get down and get dirty as they pick those up that have not bathed in so long, and take them to missions and sometimes even their own homes and provide a hot shower, clean cloths, a hot meal and a warm bed.  You see, we can not tell someone Jesus loves them, unless we are willing to love them too.

Others minister to children.  They have a special ability to listen and speak to them on their own level.

Some go to the elderly and the shut ins.  They can sit and listen to the stories these people can tell and both are blessed.

Still others are called to the actual military and there are Christian servicemen clubs in every military town.

Still, our prayer warriors keep all of these specialties going.  None of these can do it without these prayers.

Another group that God uses are those with the gift of giving.  This could be seen as the quartermasters section of the LORD's army in that they keep the troops supplies.  It is a very vital part of the Full Armor of God expressed in Ephesians 6:18   Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The U.S. Military also has "special forces"  God too has this occupation specialty.  We have those that do go into the deepest enemy camps.  They go boldly where few will tread.  They go into the cults and the occult to rescue those that they can.  Some go on mission fields where there is little support with other Christians.  They are often all alone in a very hostile land.  You see, God says HE Is not willing for any to perish and some of these will not come to us, so God equips  a select few to go to them.  Somehow the commander in chief does lay it on the hearts of the quartermasters and the supply teams to pray for these very special soldier so they are covered.  They need it as they are often deep behind enemy lines,  but the Commander in Chief is there too...going before them.  You see, we do have a host of unseen warriors.  Two out of three angles stayed faithful to the LORD.  These were the smart ones.

WARN:  Just as in the military  there are times the enemy can put on our uniform and come into our camp to confuse, satan does this too.  There are those who claim to be Christian but they do not KNOW God.

Matthew 13:

24   Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25   But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26   But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27   So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28   He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29   But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30   Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

It is not our job to separate these out. but we do need to watch the fruit that is produced.  If we do not see the fruit of the Spirit, we should not place these people in leadership.

The military also have soldiers for the purpose of promoting and increasing the moral of these serving.  They run the service clubs to entertain the troops and give them comfort.  God does this too.  HE knows we can not go full  out all the time.  We can not keep giving and not taking time to refuel.  This is one reason HE gives special talents to some to minister to US in music and in song.  We can stop to sing:

Fill my cup Lord,

I lift it up Lord

Come  and quench this thirsting of my soul,

Bread of Heaven feed me till I want no more fill my cup,

Fill it up and make me whole.

There are dozens of specialties I have not mentioned in both armies.  However, I do believe the purpose of this message has been delivered.   Not all of us have the same job to do.  EACH job is as important as the other.  Yet was as Christians soldiers HAVE to stop burying our own wounded.  In the army, each person can be called upon to do emergency first aide for the wounded.  They then get them to the medics.  Why do we not do this too?  Should we not get our wounded to our medics?  To minister to them without condemnation and then encourage them to head back into the battle?  Yet so often we stop to realize that WE too can fall down.  WE too can fall to an enemy dart or arrow but we need to comfort our wounded as 1 Cor 1: 3-4 tells us:

2 Corinthians 1
3   Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4   Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

The LORD's ARMY:  If you are a Christian  YOU are in it my friend.  If you are sitting this one out, you are AWOL...absent without leave.  Of this is you...reenlist by using 1 John 1:9:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I am sure there are some reading this that have never thought about this.  You have never enlisted in the Christian Army.  Well my friend, there are NO CIVILIANS in this...this war of the ages.  You are either on the LORD's side, or you are on satan's side.  There is no in between.  No sitting this one out.

1 John 2:

15   Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16   For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17   And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

My friend, we KNOW the LORD's Army wins...not by our power, but by the Commander-in-Chief, the LORD OF HOSTS
