The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

Just a Shepherd Boy or Just an Actor?

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest.

As I sit here, watching live coverage of the ceremony for our 40th
president, Ronald Reagan, once again, I have many things going
through my mind.

The verse above brings comfort not only to those who remain to turn
our burdens over to the LORD, but it brings comfort that when the
time comes for us to depart, we will rest from our labors.

I also want to give a message for hope for many that will be reading
this that feel they are hopeless. One of the comments made during
this ceremony was that when Ronald Reagan first ran for president,
many said he could not win. He was too old. He was only an actor. His
parents were not right. Still, he ran. It did not look likely that
the then president would have to leave the White House. Even that
last weekend before the election, things did not look good. Then the
polls turned and Ronald Reagan easily defeated Jimmy Carter to be
elected the 40 the president of the United States.

My friend, that tells me that victory is often snatched out of the
jaws of defeat.

Several thousand years ago when Israel was looking for a new king, it
was known that one of Jessies sons would be king. What was not known
is which one. All of them save one passed by the prophet. Still,
the prophet did not find the new king. He asked Jessie if that was
all of his sons and was told there was one left, but certainly he
could not be the one. Then then last one passed by...and David was
declared to be the one that would be king.

Just a shepherd boy? NOT in GOD's sight!

Just an actor? NOT in GOD's sight!

My friend, what are they saying about YOU?  Ronald Reagan was elected
because he did not give up. Are you waiting for something to
happen? Some answer to prayer? Don't give up.

Galatians 6
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap
corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap
life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall
reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Another thought many are thinking about is death. Death can be a sad
thing, or it can be a joyous event.

Look at what God says about death:

Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have
no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from
his way and live:

compare that with Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is
the death of his saints.

Why the difference? There is a saying "Born once, die twice. Born
twice, die once. For those God talks about in Ezekiel, they were
born once. In reality, the saints do not actually die. They move on
to be with Jesus forever more. Remember, John 11:26 says And
whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou
this?

Jesus came so that we might live forever.

1 Corinthians 15
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and
this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to
pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

The sting of death has been removed for those who have trusted Jesus.
Yet, for those left behind, it is a difficult time. Remember this in
regard to those that know the LORD and have passed on:

If You Could See Me Now

If You Could See Me Now
(Kim Noblitt)

Our prayers have all been answered. I finally arrived.
The healing that had been delayed has now been realized.
No one's in a hurry. There's no schedule to keep.
We're all enjoying Jesus, just sitting at His feet.

Cho: If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold.
If you could see me now, I'm standing strong and whole.
If you could see me now, you'd know I've seen His face.
If you could see me now, you'd know the pain is erased.
You wouldn't want me to ever leave this place,
If you could only see me now.

My light and temporary trials have worked out for my good,
To know it brought Him glory when I misunderstood.
Though we've had our sorrows, they can never compare.
What Jesus has in store for us, no language can share. (Chorus twice)

You wouldn't want me to ever leave this perfect place
If you could only see me now
If you could see me now
If you could only see me now

My friend, what if you are not ready? There is a far different fate
for those that are not ready:

Luke 16:

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by
the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was
buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth
Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and
send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and
cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime
receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now
he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf
fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot;
neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest
send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest
they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let
them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from
the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets,
neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Come to Jesus today so that you may find rest...not only in the here
after..but now too.
