The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

Finders...Keepers

Finders keepers. We have all heard this saying.

What would you think if someone was walking down the street and found
a crisp new perfect $20.00 bill and picked it up, looked at it and
then threw it down and walked away? Suppose you also found out that
they did not have any money and were starving? It sure would not
make sense to find something that was able to be used to meet their
need would it?

Many of us do worse then this more often then we realize. We can
often find things that will be the answer to our root needs, but we
dismiss it. Much like the person above, we do not keep that which
will meet our need.

Many are ill and can not understand why. Often when we really look
into it we can find out why:

Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice
of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight,
and wilt give ear to his commandments, and KEEP all his statutes, I
will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon
the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Now we do need to remember here that because someone is sick, it does
not mean they are not mean they have sin in their life. JOB was made
ill and he did keep God's statutes. I believe if a person is sick
because they have disobeyed God, They will know it. Some examples
could be not keeping Gods command to forgive those who abuse us.
This can lead to physical illness by becoming bitterness and there is
much in God's word about bitterness effecting our health.

A breakdown of good interpersonal relations will result in
not "keeping" Gods commands.

Exodus 16:28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to
keep my commandments and my laws?

Depending on what law we do not keep, we can even lose our freedom or
even our life.

How about our language? Do we keep God's laws in our talk?, our
choice of words?

Exodus 20
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I
the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of
them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep
my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the
LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

We need to keep all of our language acceptable to a Holy God. This
means we need to watch that "gutter" language which can cause another
to think impure thoughts. Before you say it, think about it. Would
you use that term in front of your parents, your pastor? How about
if Jesus were standing beside you? He DOES hear it you know!

Psalm 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking
guile.

Psalm 39:1 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with
my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is
before me.

1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust,
avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science
falsely so called:

Psalm 141
2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the
lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works
with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

Kids...do you think it is OK to bow to peer pressure when mom or dad
is not around? To follow the crowd and drink, use drugs or be
sexually active before marriage? Think again: (Hey folks..this
really applies to all of us doesn't it? Like when we are away from
the church crowd. DO we live like a saint on Sunday but like the
devil the other days?

Leviticus 18
3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye
not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring
you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk
therein: I am the LORD your God.
5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a
man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD

Leviticus 18
30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any
one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and
that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

Let's go back to the begining. If we were starving and we found a $20
bill, we would be blessed and our need would be met. THIS is the
same thing that happens when we find something in God's word to live
by and we keep it.

Leviticus 26
2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the
LORD.
3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield
her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Deuteronomy 5
28 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto
me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of
this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said
all that they have spoken.
29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear
me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with
them, and with their children for ever!

Deuteronomy 6
1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments,
which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them
in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his
statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy
son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days
may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be
well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of
thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk
and honey.

Deuteronomy 29:9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do
them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

Has someone lied about you? Born false witness? God has an answer
for that too my friend:

Psalm 119:69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep
thy precepts with my whole heart.

Psalm 121:5 he LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy
right hand.

Psalm 140:4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve
me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

Guys....do not buy everything that pretty woman said about how great
you are:

Proverbs 6:24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of
the tongue of a strange woman.

Ladies, this can apply to you too. Do not listen to every flattering
word someone tells you just go get what they want. For both men and
women, if you are not married, remember TRUE LOVE WAITS!

So you tell me you are a finders keeper? You are keeping His
commands but you are being slandered, accused, made fun of for
declaring you belong to the LORD? Get use to it. We are told it
would happen!

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is
not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also
persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things:
nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and
am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto
him against that day.

God does have great promises for those who are "finders keepers"

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is
that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father,
and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Luke 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the
word of God, and keep it.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Remember, in our attempts to maintain a relationship with those that
are not "finders keepers", perhaps those who may even detest the idea
of looking; if we are not keepers, we will not be able to keep that
which we are so willing to let go of what we have found in the Word
of God. Ok Ok...to say it in plain English.....we will not keep
something if we tell GOD..I will keep Your word....IF I can get
this....To do so would be to make that item...or person an
idol...something we put before the LORD our GOD!

We need to be determined to be a finders keeper even if we do not get
want WE want.

Finders keepers.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is
stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Oh...one last thing...the rest of the story.

Finders keepers....losers weepers.

Do not be a loser by not keeping that which we find in the Word of
GOD...to do so will certainly bring this last part to life!
