The hidden half of domestic violence

How to have eternal life

The Lunar Eclipse.

A few days ago, there was a lunar eclipse that could be seen in the Eastern United States.  I have been thinking about this for a couple of days ago and I want to point out a few things we can learn from it.

To begin, we need to remember that although the moon can light up the night sky, it does not do so on it's own.  It "reflects" the sun   The more sun it reflects, the brighter the night.  One can almost read by the light of a full moon and we all know how "love" is in the air on nights where there is a full moon.  It is romantic to stroll along a road with the full moon shinning brightly.  However, there are times when there is no moon and the night is dark and lonely.   Let's compare these with our life with Christ.

1:  Much as the moon does not have any light of it's own...neither do WE!  In fact, the Bible tells us that we are all full of darkness

John 3
18   He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19   And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20   For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

2:  When we  have trusted Christ as our savior, we will begin "reflecting" HIS light.  Remember, Jesus IS the light of the world..  Apart from allowing Christ to live through us. we will have no light to show to a darkened world.

What causes a  lunar eclipse?

In order for the moon to reflect the light of the sun, it has to receive this light.  If something blocks it, it can not reflect it.  An eclipse occurs when the Earth gets between the moon and the sun thus blocking it.  An eclipse of the sun occurs when the moon is between Earth and the sun and since the moon is much closer, although it is smaller, it can block the light from the sun.   So what lessons can we learn from this:

1:  In order to reflect the light of Jesus Christ, we can not allow anything to block HIS light from us.  Our focus to be on Christ.  We can not look at our problems as insurmountable,  nor can we use what others are doing to keep us from doing what we know God has told us to do.  This would allow them or that problem to block the light of the World...Jesus Christ from us so we can not reflect HIM to a lost and darkened world.    Much of the ministry God has allowed me to have is to help shed this light on those who have been abused.  Often it is troubled marriages.  Many times we hear, "Yes I know I should be submissive to my husband....BUT......or "I know I should love my wife...BUT.

My friend, if we allow another to keep us from doing what God has told us to do, we block the light....and we have an eclipse.  We are to do what God tells US...regardless of what another does.

ANYTHING we place between God and us...will cause HIS light to be blocked.  This can include our jobs, our homes. our family, even our churches.

We have been instructed not to hide our light under a basket.  One of the ways we can do this, is to block the light by moving other things between us and the source of Light.

2: In order to reflect more if HIS light, we have to move closer to it.  We need to allow the Holy Spirit free rein in our lives.   That saying "God is my co-pilot"... well it may sound good, but I want Him to be my PILOT!  You see, a "co-pilot follows the  commands of the pilot.  Is this what we want?

3: If you are walking along a quiet country road on a moonless night, and a light suddenly flashes somewhere, it gets your attention does it not?  I know I personally am interested in where that light is coming from.  It draws me to it.   My friend,  WE are  this light in a darkened world.  If we let HIS light shine through WILL draw those lost in the darkness to us...and then we need to let them know that the light they see is a reflection of the Light of the World,  We need to point to....JESUS!

JOHN 8:12

We all know the importance of light.  Millions saw that first hand when the Eastern US and Canada was thrown into a black out last summer.  You see, light is also used to guide too.  Without traffic lights, no one knew when to go.  Most could not find their way.   Lets make sure we keep reflecting that light, that we keep the power lines open.  Our power line?  Prayer and fellowship with our LORD first...and then with other believers.  Oh friend..fellowship with other believers is important.  The reason the blackout occurred is because some transmission lines failed and others would not take up the slack.  Are you the line that is failing?  Are you next to one whose light is flickering?  (the light is not..but the reflection is)  Help bear the load of that one until the problem is corrected.   This brings us to the next point.

Much as we do have occasional ellipses when something will block the sun,  WE too will have down times...times in which we will not and can not fully reflect HIM.  Jesus Christ had to go to get along with His Father from time to time.  We need to have these down times too.  It is not a reflection that we have lost anything, but that we need to have a fresh filling of new oil.

To conclude, we need to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to a lost world.  In order to do this, we can not have anything between the source of light and us....Turn your eyes upon Jesus....and not only will the things of earth seem strangely dim, but the Light of Jesus will be brighter and it will reflect better. so...

This little light of mine...I'm going to let it shine....

If YOU do not know the light of the can get connected to the greatest source of power in the World.  There is no connection fee and all the cost has been paid by the POWER COMPANY!   Come to HIM today...get connected.....HE is only a whisper away!
