Depression

Often, when one has been abused, depression is a result. Abuse makes one feel worthless since verbal and emotional abuse is used along with the physical abuse so often they see no hope for the future. Although I will be posted medical considerations for this I wanted to get some Biblical verses that I pray will help on line until I get that done, I am working on a web page for this club and that has been more time consuming then I thought.
The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles Ps 34:17

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Ps 147:3
Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10

Humble youselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Casting all you care upon Him; for He careth for you. 1 Peter 5:6,7
Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing unto Zion; and everylasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. Isaiah 51:11

Also look at:

1 Peter 4:12,13 (His glory shall be revealed and we will be glad with exceeding joy)

Isaiah 61:3 (beauty for ashes, praise for heaviness)

Isaiah 40:31 (we shall mount up with wings as eagles, shall run and not be weary, walk and not faint)
 2 Corinthians 1: 3,4 (He shall comfort us with all comfort so we in turn
can comfort others with the comfort He has given us)
For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor
height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from
the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 38,39

Remember that the battle is often in our minds. Although there are physical and chemical reasons for depression, it is often not clear if these changes occur before or after the depression.

Proverbs 23:7 tells us "for as he THINKETH in his heart so he is. Often
satan will tell us that we are no good, that in fact we are not even a
Christian because if we were, we would never have done that, we would never have opened that porno link, your wife (or you husband would never have beaten you if you were good, or he will tell you the other gender is much better then you (as he did me) or a host of other LIES! Folks every one of us has extreme value in our Father's eyes. He DIED for each and every one of us! That means we have great value---because of HIM!
Romans 12: 1,2 tells us how to do change our thinking: I beseech you
therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
LIVING sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service And be not comformed to this world but be ye transformed BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The best way to do this is found in Phil 4:8:  Finally, brethren whatsoever things are TRUE, whatsoever things are HONEST, whatsoever things are JUST, whatsoever things are PURE, whatsoever things are LOVELY, whatsoever things are OF GOOD REPORT, if there be any virtue,
and if their be any praise, THINK on THESE things!

Remember, when satan reminds you of your PAST, remind him of his FUTURE!

Father, we come to you to ask you to comfort your children that may be
depressed for a host of reasons right now. Comfort them with Your comfort so they may have JOY restored to their life once again, May the words of your word above give this comfort, and may we each remember, we were not alone with feelings of depression since many of your faithful people in the Bible were depressed too such as king David and Jonah and several others and we know YOU carried each of them through and gave them a great testimony for Your love, mercy and grace. Do the same for your children reading this!
