The hidden half of domestic violence
How to have eternal life
Dry Eyed Christians
I have been
to many church service of several denominations. In many of these services I
have never seen a damp eye.
I have often wondered about this. I have wondered how one could know the Lord
and never need tissue.
I wonder how one could know the fate of those that do not know the Lord and never need tissue.
Yet I would be first to tell you that a flood of tears does NOT prove spirituality. Tears can be fakes as any other human emotion. That is why it is so important for a Christian to go by FACT and Not FEELINGS. There are times I do not "feel" like a Christian. We can not trust emotions but when I check the Word of God I do find some amazing things about tears.
I find that many of us will not have much JOY:
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
I find that some do not follow the example of Christ:
JESUS Wept John 11:35
I find it is one of the most beautiful sacrificial gifts given to our Lord (would WE do this?)
And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Luke 7:44
I find it often shows repentance (but not always):
"And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." Mark 9:24
I find it shows a burden for the lost:
"Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears." Acts 20:31
" For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you." I Corinthians 2:4
I find that they reflect JOY when others do HIS will:
"Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;"
2 Tim. 1:4
I find they showed how much our Lord Jesus Christ suffered for US and how much HE Cares for each of us:
"So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him"
Hebrews 5: 5-9
I find they do not prove repentance:
"For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. " Hebrews 12:17
"I find that they shall be no more:
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Rev 7:17
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Rev. 21:4
I find that the more I see myself as I am compared to the way HE IS, the more likely they come.
"For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." Psalms 51: 16. 17
I wonder... I wonder about so many dry eyed Christians but I am not saying that because of tears in our eyes, we care more then one who does not but what if you were told that your loved one has a terminal illness and would not live more then a few more months.. would your eyes be dry? What if you were told a member of your family that had a terminal illness was CURED.. would your eyes be dry?
WHY then do we not cry when someone COMES to the Lord... even the angles in heaven rejoice over this.. Why not us?
Why then do we not cry knowing someone is rejecting the gift of salvation maybe for the last time? Why then do we not PRAY and INTERCEDE on their behalf far more then WE do?
We DO reap what we sow.. They that sow in tears shall reap in JOY... what size harvest do YOU want?
