The hidden half of domestic violence
How to have eternal life
Casting Pearls Before Swine
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your
pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and
turn again and rend you.
Over the last couple of years, I have been in several groups which
did not show one ounce of the most important character a Christian is
suppose to show....LOVE. As those who know me, this aspect is very
important as it is what will draw the lost to Christ. The Bible
tells us anyone can love those who do nice things for them, but who
would expect anyone to love those who did evil things to them? Who
would expect anyone to love their enemy, yet this is exactly what God
demands from His kids...love your enemy.
Yet what about that verse I quoted above? Can we love our enemy and
follow this verse? Lets look at a few things and find out.
We have often heard that we are known by the company we keep. It is
actually possible to be arrested for a crime that we know nothing
about because we hang with the wrong crowd. Now many of us, myself
included have joined clubs or groups with the intent of posting that
we do need to show love...to let love abound and have in turned been
blasted, ridiculed, made fun of and banned. Of course when we are
banned, we can not go back to try to post that love is needed, but
what if we are not? How often do we try? How often do we go back to
encourage love? My friend, this is the 64,000 dollar question and
there is no specific answer. One point I do want to make here is
that there has to be a time we stop and allow God to take over and do
the rest. Oh yes, we have to try, God very often plants the seed,
but then we must remember Matt 7:6
There is a good reason we are told this. We can not cast our pearls
before swine for if we keep doing this...we become....THEM!
Often we see people hanging out with the wrong crowd. When asked
about this, it is said "oh I just want to try to pull them up" My
friend, this very seldom works. Most often they will pull us DOWN
much sooner then we will put them UP. This is why a Christian should
never date a non Christian in the hopes of showing them Christ, for
most often, the Christian will start acting like them...they cast
their pearls before swine...and become them!
Why is this? Proverbs 23:7 tells us "For as he thinketh in his
heart, so is he:" When we spend a lot of time with these people, we
often tend to start thinking like them and thus we become them.
There are far too many people that will listen to the message we have
but remember, we can not change the message, the message has to
change us. This message is LOVE. According to 1 Corinthians 13
with out love, nothing matters.
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have
not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all
mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I
could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
Notice these verses tells us that even if we do all of the good works
a Christian should do because (not to be... but because) they are a
Christian, it does not matter one bit without love.
YES, we do need to get this message out to those that do not show
love, but when they do not receive this message, it is time to move
on to those who will listen.
When this does occur, it may not be a bad idea to pray the psalmist
prayer once again...Search ME oh Lord...to assess to make sure OUR
motive was right to begin with, to make sure all is well between our
soul and the Master, but once we know all was and is well, we need to
make sure we do not take these events personally for we are commanded
to DO what God tells us to do....we have never been responsible for
the results...that is HIS JOB!
Are you trying to help those that will not listen to know the TRUTH?
Are they not listening? Please be careful of where you are casting
your pearls...so you will NOT become....THEM!
