A-5714
A-5714. This may not
mean much to you, but it means a lot to Robert
Clary. It was his death sentence for over two and a half years.
Mr. Clary was better known as Corporal Louis LaBeau in Hogan's Heroes
from 1965 to 1971. In doing this story, my respect for Mr Clary went
up quite a but for you see, A-5714 is a tattoo I am sure he still has
to this day. It was placed on him by Hitler's SS troops in a camp
much like Auschwitz. As you know, millions of those that had this
tattoo died in those camps, including Robert's family. At one time, they were
forced on a death march in which 4,000 prisoners were force to march to
Buchenwald. Only 1,200 arrived there.
The fact that Mr. Clary played a part in a Nazi prison camp with some actors
playing the part of SS troops makes this "sit com" more meaningful to me
however, this is not what I am writing this for.
Mr. Clary sang for the Germany troops including the SS soldiers. This
is what kept him alive until he was set free by the Allied Army.
This was after 31 months under the sentence of death. Of course, he also worked
in a hot and noisy factory 12 hours a day with few breaks and never enough to
eat.
What has given me even more respect to this man, Robert Clary is this
statement he made regarding those 31 months...months in which he saw
most of his family die at the hands of these people.
"If you keep on living your life by hating, you're not achieving
anything. "I can not forget what happened, but forgive........is something I
probably did because I didn't want to waste my time".
I am not sure of Mr. Clary's relationship with the LORD, but I do want to talk
with YOU one on one right now.
Many of us have had our own concentration camps. Our SS officers often are
dressed as our mother or father, husband or wife. There are other ways we can
die a thousand deaths without our bodies dying. Most of us have been set free
from those camps just as Robert had been. I do urge you to follow his example in
forgiving. It yields only bitterness and destroyed lives...including YOUR life.
Others are presently in concentration camps of their own making. The SS guards
are porno sites, alcohol, drugs, and a host of other things that may bring
pleasure for a few moments. Sometimes it is revenge to get back at those that
have abused us. These keep US prisoner even more then those we detest.
ALL of us were in another concentration camp. We were all and many may still be
in the concentration camp of SIN. The SS guards may well appear to be angles
that want only the best for us. If we look carefully, instead of wings and
halos, we can see the slimy scales, the claws and the fangs, and we can smell
breath so foul a gallon of month wash would not help.
Much as the Allied Army rescued many of those from the concentration camps that
Robert was in, there is one that is able to break the chains in each of the
concentration camps that enslave us. He descended into the pits of hell itself
to cancel OUR reservations. He has torn the gates off each of these camps be it
the camp of SIN itself, or those that often so easily bind us such as porno or
drugs.
The liberating army is just outside the gates. The Captain of the host is
waiting for YOUR call to open the gate and let you free.

I'M FREE:
1. So long I had searched for life's meaning,
Enslaved by the world and my greed;
Then the door of my prison was opened by love,
For the ransom was paid, I was freed.
CHORUS:
I'm free from the fear of tomorrow;
I'm free from the guilt of the past;
For I've traded my shackles
For a glorious song;
I'm free, praise the Lord, free at last!
2. I'm free from the guilt that I carried,
From the dull empty life I'm set free;
For when I met Jesus,
He made me complete;
He forgot the foolish man I used to be.
CHORUS:
I'm free from the fear of tomorrow;
I'm free from the guilt of the past;
For I've traded my shackles
For a glorious song;
I'm free, praise the Lord, free at last!
Because..... He touched me,
Oh, He touched me,
And Oh, the joy that floods my soul;
Something happened, and now I know
He touched me and made me whole.
1. Shackled by a heavy burden,
'Neath a load of guilt and shame;
Then the hand of Jesus touched me,
And now I am no longer the same.
CHORUS:
He touched me,
Oh, He touched me,
And Oh, the joy that floods my soul;
Something happened, and now I know
He touched me and made me whole.
2. Since I met this blessed Savior,
Since He cleansed and made me whole;
I will never cease to praise Him,
I'll shout it while eternity rolls.
CHORUS:
He touched me,
Oh, He touched me,
And Oh, the joy that floods my soul;
Something happened, and now I know
He touched me and made me whole.
